SCG Legal

SCG Legal is a nonprofit corporation consisting of 50 independent law firms located in or near their respective state capitals and nearly 60 firms throughout the world. In 1989, 17 former governors who had returned to their state capitals to practice law formed the organization to enhance their expertise and to better serve clients by sharing information about the practice of law before state legislative, judicial, and executive bodies. Featherstonhaugh, Clyne & McCardle, LLP is proud to be New York’s capital city representative to this distinguished organization.

Each member firm in SCG Legal has spent years working with all branches of its respective state government. SCG Legal provides an organized and efficient system for the collection and dissemination of information on trends in state laws, regulations, and other developments in state governments.

The continuing shift in lawmaking and regulation from the federal government to 50 separate and independent state governments is having a profound impact on American business. Federal influence over a wide array of business affairs has been dramatically reduced, and regulation of many issues is primarily in the hands of the state governments. Our involvement in SCG Legal enables us to better serve our clients by keeping up with trends and developments throughout the country. Member firms of SCG Legal practice independently and not in a relationship for the joint practice of law.
