Biography: Steven Boggess brings decades of experience in government, politics, and public policy to Featherstonhaugh, Wiley & Clyne, LLP.

Prior to joining the firm, Steve worked for the New York State Senate for over 30 years. For 15 of those years, he served as chief of staff to Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno. In addition to those responsibilities, for his last 11 years with the Senate, Steve was elected by the members of the Senate to serve as secretary of the Senate. The secretary serves in the capacity of the chief administrative officer of the Senate, overseeing approximately 1400 employees and a budget of almost $95 million. Some specific areas of Steve’s responsibilities were tracking the status of bills, overseeing the operations of the Task Force on Reapportionment, and providing research pertaining to issues of interest to members. During the last redistricting cycle (2001-02) Steve was named by the senate majority leader to be the principal staffer reviewing data and drawing new district lines, working closely with then-chairman of the Task Force on Reapportionment, Dean Skelos. Steve also served as secretary of the Senate under new Majority Leader Dean Skelos in 2008.

Steve started his career in the Senate as Director of the Senate Subcommittee on Small Business Development. Before working for the Senate, Steve managed the congressional campaign of Gerald B. Solomon, one of only three successful challenges to incumbents nationwide. He then worked for the National Republican Congressional Committee. He has experience managing and advising political campaigns on the local, state, and national level.

Early in his career he also served as administrative assistant and chief of staff to the Troy, New York City Council.
